INTERNSHIP AS PRODUCT MANAGER AT GDP LABS (JAKARTA, INDONESIA)
Hello gengs. Welcome back to my medium post ulalaaa. I want to share my experience as an intern student at GDP Labs. Do you know what is GDP Labs? Of course, you can search about GDP Labs in search engine but I would like to tell you a little bit about GDP labs.
GDP Labs is a portfolio company under GDP Venture, which is a strategic Internet investor focused on the Indonesian market. GDP Venture invests in early and growth-stage companies in the consumer-to-consumer and mobile industries. Currently, GDP Labs is HIRING 1,000 great software engineers! At GDP Labs, I am focused on developed Internal tools, training module, and performance management module in Catapa. Catapa is one of GDP Labs’s product that focused on developing a Human Resources Intelligent System. What am I doing every day as a PM intern at GDP Labs?
Research, Interview, Get some insight and write the requirements, create the prototype, test it with the user, repeat it until we think that it is the best solution. I also share my ideas to develop the systems with another Catapa software engineer interns and they gave me the great feedback (Thanks guys HAHA). Pak Hans also asked me to make the prioritization for the requirements of Catapa console internal. I have finished that task for one month. Next, I’ve to be the product analyst for the training module and performance management. I’ve to analyst all of the competitors and make compare it with our product. I must think about what the best features that Catapa must-have in the training module and performance management and I also created a prototype. After that, I help marketing to make posts about Catapa.
Every 4 p.m we have discussed our progress to our mentor. I called it as a sharing time because we always asked about somethings that we want to know to him and he always gives us the best answer related to his experience. I got any insight on how to be a PM in real life (plus or minus). Oh ya, as an intern at GDP Labs you must write your weekly report about what you’ve learnt in this week and then is there any problem or not.
They also have a program to intern named GL Talk. So, the fulltime employee will present the materials about technology, business, or anything about how to develop a good product. Each GL Talk is about one hour and we can ask any question in the end session. Thanks, kakak-kakak GDP Labs!

Before you prepare your CV, don’t forget to learn anything about your target position intern (the requirement is available on the company page). You also can join any competitions or projects or something that at least it can be your modal when an interview in your dream company. At least you have experience in developing a product.
Just believe in yourself. Don’t be afraid to apply or feels like I never got that position (minder). At least, you have to try it. If you failed, you can learn what’s the reason and try to fix it. keep trying and never give up.
